Yoga Therapy Goal Setting Part 2: Tracking Progress & Adjusting Goals in P.I.E.S.

Hi again, friends!

In my last post, I introduced you to the PIES framework—a simple and effective way to check in with your Physical, Intellectual, Emotional, and Spiritual well-being. (If you missed it, you can catch up here.)

This week, I’m following up with the next step: creating a personalized self-care plan based on what you uncover during your PIES assessment. If you’ve been tracking your PIES ratings, you might already have a good sense of where to focus your energy.

In my latest YouTube video, I walk you through the process using a mock case study I created. Let me tell you about “Sue” and how the PIES framework helped her find balance during a challenging time.

(Watch the livestream video I made about this HERE)

From Insight to Action: Sue’s Journey

Sue (not a real person) came to me feeling overwhelmed. She was starting to experience perimenopause, struggling with hip pain, and feeling the weight of work stress. After going through a PIES assessment, we discovered her biggest area of need was managing emotional stress.

Here’s the plan I designed for her:

  • Yoga Postures: To release tension and create more physical ease.
  • Breathwork (Pranayama): To calm her nervous system and improve focus.
  • Meditation & Journaling: To process her emotions and gain clarity.
  • Supportive Resources: Recommendations for podcasts and books to inspire and uplift.

This plan wasn’t just about stress—it also nourished her physical, intellectual, and spiritual well-being. That’s the beauty of the PIES framework: it allows for holistic care that addresses all aspects of your life.

Why Reassessment Matters

One key part of this process is regular reassessment. After 4–6 weeks, Sue would revisit the PIES assessment to see how her ratings have shifted. This step is crucial for tracking progress and making adjustments to the plan.

You can do this too! A simple 30-day tracker or bullet journal can help you stay consistent and see the trends in how you’re feeling.

What’s Next?

In the video, I also give you a sneak peek at the next step in my yoga therapy process: postural assessments. This is where I help clients align their bodies to reduce physical discomfort and improve overall mobility. If that sounds interesting, stay tuned—there’s more coming soon!

Watch the video here and let me know: how are you using the PIES framework in your own life? Have you noticed any changes in how you feel? Share your thoughts in the Facebook group—I’d love to hear about your journey.

Until next time, take care of yourself and keep moving toward balance and ease.
