Root Down to Rise: How to Reconnect with Stability Through the Root Chakra
Viviane Wolfe | MAY 19, 2025

Have you been feeling ungrounded, overwhelmed, or uncertain lately? Whether it's midlife shifts, menopause, career transitions, or simply the speed of modern life, it’s not uncommon to feel like your feet aren’t quite on solid ground.
In yoga therapy, we return to the Root Chakra (Muladhara) when we need to reestablish safety, security, and inner support. The root chakra governs your foundation—both physically and energetically—and when it’s out of balance, it can leave you feeling anxious, scattered, or disconnected from your body.
The root chakra becomes especially important for women in their 40s and 50s. As hormones shift and life roles change, your nervous system and sense of self can feel shaky. Root chakra practices provide the grounding support you need to:
To help you cultivate this grounded energy, I’ve created a 28-minute audio class replay to reconnect you to your inner foundation.
This practice includes:
🧘♀️ Gentle yoga poses that strengthen and stabilize your lower body
🌬️ Breathwork to soothe the nervous system and center your mind
🧘♂️ Guided meditation to help you root down and feel supported from within
You can return to this short and practical session anytime life feels shaky or you simply want to feel more rooted and calm.

This slow, therapeutic sequence is intentionally crafted to ground your body and calm your mind. Here's a breakdown of the key movements:
A low-to-the-ground variation of Sun Salutations that moves slowly and intentionally, connecting breath to grounded movement. These transitions help regulate your nervous system while fostering physical strength and presence.
This flowing sequence focuses on the hips and hamstrings—the areas where we often store tension and emotion. Moving mindfully through each transition will release stuck energy and strengthen your connection to your base.
The Sphinx encourages openness through the front body while gently engaging the root. To build inner stability, you’ll explore Mula Bandha (the root lock) and end with Lion’s Breath, a powerful release that awakens and clears stagnant energy.
These poses aren’t just about physical flexibility—they’re designed to support emotional and energetic resilience from the ground up.
