Lesson 36 | Daily Yoga & Mindfulness Practices to Boost Self-Worth
Viviane Wolfe | SEP 22, 2025

Hello, my friends. As a yoga therapist specializing in guiding Generation X professional women through the unique mental health challenges of midlife, I often hear one thing: a desire to reconnect with confidence and cultivate deeper self-worth.
If you're in your midlife season…which, if you're Gen X, you are…it’s a time of immense transformation. You’re juggling a demanding career, family responsibilities, and maybe even the first physical and emotional shifts of perimenopause. It’s easy for your inner light to feel dimmed by the pressure.
The great news is that you don't need a complete overhaul to feel more grounded and worthy. We can reclaim our inner trust and self-esteem through simple, profound daily practices.
This two-part ritual combines a seated meditation and a journaling prompt designed to boost your spirit and reaffirm your inherent value quickly.
This simple visualization practice targets the Manipura Chakra (Solar Plexus), which is the energetic center associated with personal power, self-esteem, and confidence.
How to Practice:
Find Your Seat: Settle into a comfortable position. If you're in a chair, sit with your feet flat on the floor and your body positioned toward the edge. If you prefer the floor, find any cross-legged or seated posture that feels stable. Let your hands rest softly on your legs or knees.
Arrive in the Moment: Gently soften your gaze or close your eyes. Take a few slow, deep breaths to fully arrive. Let go of what happened before you sat down and what's waiting for you when you open your eyes.
Grounding Check: Notice where your body connects to the surface below, the soles of your feet to the floor, your hips to the chair or cushion. Simply observe any sensations present: the feel of clothing on your skin, areas of tension, or deep relaxation.
Observe the Breath: Notice your natural breath. Don't change it; just feel its rhythm. Is it shallow or deep? Fast or slow?
Visualize Your Crystal: Right above your navel, inside your body, imagine a glowing crystal. You might associate it with the color yellow, the color of the Solar Plexus, but choose any color that resonates with you.
Feed the Light: As you inhale, imagine pure, vital light flowing into that crystal, causing it to glow brighter. As you exhale, the crystal shines that light back out into the world…bigger, warmer, and more powerful with every breath.
Sustain the Shine: Spend a full minute feeding your crystal. If your mind wanders (and it will!), simply bring your focus back to the light growing brighter with each inhale.
Concluding the Practice: After your final breath, release the visualization, but know that this energetic center of self-worth is still being nourished and actively radiates in every direction. When you’re ready, gently open your eyes.
Journaling is a powerful tool for shifting your internal dialogue. We're going to use a focused gratitude practice to deliberately generate feelings of love and appreciation toward yourself.
The Prompt:
The Starting Statement: At the very top of your page, write this statement, leaving room for a blank:
I am grateful for ___________________.
Fill the Blank (The Focus): Fill that blank with one positive thing about yourself. This can be physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual. The key is to keep it in the present tense.
Example: I am grateful for my ability to focus.
Example: I am grateful for my kind heart.
Example: I am grateful for my unwavering adaptability.
Fill the Page (The Connection): Below your starting statement, begin to fill the page with every thought and feeling that relates to it.
If you chose flexibility, you might write: "I am grateful for my consistent yoga practice." "I am grateful for my dance education that built this strength." "I am grateful for my resilient joints."
If you chose my kind heart, you might write: "I am grateful for the deep friendships I've built." "I am grateful for my ability to forgive myself." "I am grateful for the energy I have to help my colleagues."
The Goal: Challenge yourself to fill the entire page. The stream of thought will get easier as you move down, helping you build a positive, self-affirming connection between your qualities and the wonderful things they bring into your life. The entire page should focus on gratitude and positive statements.
As you write, you may start to feel a warm, buzzy feeling in your chest; that's the energy of gratitude taking hold!
This simple two-part ritual can take as little as five minutes, but its effects on your self-perception are profound. You aren't increasing your self-worth; you are simply reconnecting to the radiant confidence that was within you all along.
Give this ritual a try today.
