The Best Yoga Routine for Anxiety Relief & Long-Term Calm -- Lesson 24

Welcome to Zen X Yoga, a heart-centered space where we explore the transformative power of yoga and Ayurveda, designed explicitly for Gen Xers navigating midlife.

I’m Viviane Wolfe, a certified yoga therapist, and every week throughout 2025, I’m offering a short and potent yoga therapy lesson right here on YouTube. I’ve crafted these practices with your nervous system, energy levels, and unique midlife journey in mind. This week's offering—Lesson 24: The Best Yoga Routine for Anxiety Relief and Long-Term Calm—marks the halfway point in our 48-lesson series, and it’s one of the most calming, strengthening, and soul-nourishing sequences I teach.

Why Ocean Salutes?

This gentle yet powerful yoga flow is designed to:

  • Calm and regulate your nervous system
  • Build resilience to everyday stress
  • Strengthen your core, arms, and back
  • Foster a deep inner stillness that lingers long after you step off the mat

Inspired by the rhythm of the ocean, this sequence ebbs and flows like waves rising, cresting, and dissolving. It's a favorite among my yoga therapy clients—so much so that I use it with everyone, at least once. And I think you’ll love it too.

What to Expect in This Practice

Ocean Salutes combines slow, intentional movement with guided breath awareness and a peaceful closing meditation. It’s ideal for mornings when you want to set the tone for a grounded and peaceful day, but you can practice at any time you need to reset your energy.

Here’s a snapshot of what’s included:

  • ✨ Gentle warm-up with shoulder and neck rolls
  • ✨ Breath-led transitions between Child’s Pose and Tabletop
  • ✨ Slow, fluid Cobra Flows to awaken the spine and heart
  • ✨ Optional humming or sighing exhales to stimulate the vagus nerve
  • ✨ A grounding final relaxation with a simple breath mantra: “Easy” (inhale) and “Let go” (exhale)
  • ✨ Moment of mindfulness to observe post-practice sensations

Whether you're new to yoga or returning after a long break, this sequence is here to meet you where you are, offering strength and softness in equal measure.
