Hello my friend!

We are still exploring the practice of Awakening in Spring, and today I wanted to share with you some yoga philosophy that may guide you into feeling awakened and enlightened.

The very start of the yoga sutras of Patanjali is focused on the awakening of consciousness with joy.

Yoga is the uniting of consciousness in the heart.

United in the heart, consciousness is steadied, then we abide in our true nature–joy. (Devi, pg 280)

This is the 2nd and third lines of the sutras. If you think of enlightenment as full authentic awareness and acceptance of the Self, this tells us that awakening is a joyful thing.

At other times, we identify with the rays of consciousness, which fluctuate and encourage our perceived suffering. (Devi, pg 280)

Basically, this is saying that when we spend time focusing on things that we like or don’t like, we create suffering for ourselves.

There’s a whole lot more to unpack with that, but for right now, let’s stay with the idea that awakening the Self is a joyful practice. Also, understanding that we will move into and out of our awakened, enlightened state over and over. Each time we come back is a reason to celebrate.

That is why it is a great practice to ALLOW your feelings to happen, to observe them and then let them pass, leaving You behind to joyfully return to the present moment of awakened consciousness.

This week, come back into the PIES method of journaling, with an eye on what is “perceived” and will pass.

  1. On a page in your journal or on a piece of paper, divide the space into 4 equal quadrants.
  2. Label each quadrants: Physical, Intellectual, Emotional, Spiritual
  3. Take a moment to bring your awareness to each aspect of your existence, or “bodies”
  4. Write what you are observing in your physical body, then your intellectual body, emotional body and spiritual body. It can be lists in each section, or freewriting or doodles.
  5. Then take a look at what you wrote. How much of it is temporary, passing, or out of your control?

That’s it!
